In recognition of Fire Prevention Week (October 4-10), students at Thiells Elementary School learned essential fire safety skills from firefighters at the Thiells Fire Department. They practiced stop, drop and roll, learned to check a doorknob for heat before opening a door, crawl low under smoke and identify a safe meeting spot outside their home. Firefighters also explained the importance of working fire alarms and knowing how to respond in an emergency.
